the day after my last post, i had to fly back to the states as my mother started cancer treatments.  i did quite a bit of crochet for her while there - nice cozy hats and scarves to keep her little bald chemo head warm. after 33 days of treatments the doctors though they had shrunk the cancer in the lymph nodes around her heart enough to go in and extract, as well as take the cancerous lung as well.

surgery was on april 25th.
i flew back home on april 28th as it was the first flight i could get.
my mom passed away on may 8th at 4:44am.

while i was there i finished a really nice cashmere fisherman's type hat for my dad.
and i missed my flight back home due to the doctor asking me to sign my mother's full DNR as it was the i knew we only had a matter of days.  i am so glad i went and took the decision to stay.

but i could not afford a $1000.00 one way ticket back to london, which is what they cost at short notice...so a lovely friend donated his air miles to get me home...he even paid the tax on the flight for me.

which is good, as i only managed three days of work the whole time i was away.
i was going to do porn, but just wasn't in the mood, lol...

now i am back in london and going to crochet my little fingers off to make a thank you present for my air miles friend - that is the least i can do...

...that and get tattooed.

i got some new trial varifocal contact lenses, and they are great for gigs and watching tv - but i cannot read a damn thing with them on...so have not been online much nor following any patterns, instead freeformed a going away present for my ex punkerboyfriend (nice one). made him my usual pirate bunting but instead of crocheting the skull flags to the hanging thread, i attached them with safety pins to make it look more punk - but also so he can detach the flags and use them as dish/wank cloths.

then i popped my contact lenses out and started experimenting with an ABC afghan for my latest boytoy's little nephew shayon...but as things have not been all that rosy lately i am not feeling that inspired to even start the damn thing. don't get me wrong - i do really love the guy, but sometimes i just get bored of his drunken antics...i realise he is just having fun, but it's not fun for me. so instead of starting the ABC afghan i have decided to work on my first curse word bunting!

shall be my first curse word bunting, and i do hope it only the first of many many more as i have all my favourite curses waiting in the wings to become a bit of crafty art...words like cockcheese, cuntgribble, titweasel, fuckbucket, and maybe even a double worder with FANNY FLAPS...well, better go get started.

look at me, posting more than once a week - but i am about to burst with happiness as i got to meet up with the cutest hooker ever yesterday - the talented twinkie chan!!

it was a wonderful afternoon, hosted by the crochet girlie at atfotf - with cupcakes and crochet and making new friends. i have even wrangled the girls from her publisher to start coming along to our sitchups in the clock house on leather lane.

then i came home, and spent some time cruising on the internet - watching the aftermath of the march yesterday unfold on twitter, and looking at more ways to get involved with the relief efforts for japan. so far i have done/plan/thought about the following ways to help:

1. set up a donation link to shelter box for anyone wishing to buy me a birthday present. i'd love 100 of my internet friends and family to donate at least $10 (£6) to this charity that supplies emergency shelter - because if we did that would be $1k...

2. charting an afghan square to create a whole crocheted blanket to auction off for donation to the japanese red cross.

3. start making squares for the 'crochet a rainbow' effort to distribute blankets across the tsunami area of japan. am going to get a date in the diary soon to get my usual stitchers together to make squares one night (with beer of course kids do not worry!!!)

i'm not sure why this disaster has upset me so. maybe it is the memory of katrina and how helpless i felt while my dad's family were back south taking in tons of strangers and maxing out there credit cards to help others. yes, i do come from good stock...my family wouldn't take any help paying off their cards and instead asked people to donate to the salvation army "because they are the charity that stayed when the tv crews left".

yes, i do come from good stock. guess i better do some shit to prove it!

it wasnt' that much warmer over there but i'm really feelin' it today - so off to have a nice lovely facial over at the beauty lounge in a bit...and as its just underneath my local shop 'all the fun of the fair' i shall definitely be popping into there - especially as i'm missin' the launch at iknit today.

so much to do but i need to rest before i head out.
hardly slept at all last night as was out with our tattoo artist til around 2am and then up at 4:30am for the car to the airport...but it was worth it to see the 'black keys' play in such a small venue and to score such lovely tattoos.

i now have butterflies and flowers added to my back to start filling it in, and rafrasilecs has a pretty pretty cherry blossom and tibetan flame shoulder piece...and i even snuck in enough stitch and bitch time while he was getting tattooed that i made another 4 skully squares for me afghan!
