busy bee

so it's been busy busy for me since valentine's day.
busy visiting friends, working, drinking vodka, and having horrid migrainey flu.
i cannot wait to havce a nice steam tomoro at the gym!

and this is a little something that i made while home on the sofa sick sick sick:
she is a dead mommy bee...based on the pattern by ana, but enhanced alot - to the point i wonder when it becomes an homage, as i changed the antenna, the face, body, and wings...so basically tweaked it all, and love the way it turned out.

i'm finding that i'm really tweaking her patterns alot lately (again) i love ana's amigurumis and find they are such an inspiration...big props to her!!!

mayday! mayday!

so as the weather is sooo shit in london this weekend, and i was stuck in waiting for my oldest friend to turn up from back home, i finally got stuck into the doris chan book n started a project from it! n i am so oo glad that i did, as it's been extra warm and cozy to be playing with mohair on such a rotten day...it is so cold here that we actually wished we had gloves when we were out shopping and pubbing today!

and what's really great is even though i started it this evening when we got back from the pub, i am pretty much halfway finished and it's only just got 1am...if it was light enough in our bedroom i'd be working on it now - i had to vacate the sitting room as the old friend gets the big over-stuffed goosedown sofa for her few hours snooxe...she has an early flight so i reckon i'll be awake again in a few hours - that's if i get to sleep at all. i'm starting to get back to my old insomniac self.

which is oky - as it means more time for crochet!

i know it's not crochet, but it's stitchy related, and it's my blog so i can talk about whatever the f*ck i want to really...because i just ordered these embroidery transfers by tara mcperson for sublime stitching!:! how great are they???

and in true DIY style, i'll probably mix it up a bit, and i doubt i'll embroider with as many strands as the example photos (from sublime website)...i really think the lips could be done with maybe only one strand of floss?

i'm just sooo damn excited about this as i love tara - as a person and as an illustrator. she is so talented and the sweetest person you'll ever meet. i first fell in love with her stuff years ago and was so lucky that i hooked up with her via my old flatmate and friend and co-work kimlovesstuff.

i am not usually such a fangirl, but having tara passed out asleep on my sofa was quite an honour. she even left behind a pair of knickers that we thought about making art out of but instead we washed and my daughter ravenisis wore them. o and my daughter has a BIG show tonight if any of you londoners want to attend? shit shit shit - i did actually think the show was tomoro!!!

i scored the loveliest tweed yarn yesterdy to make a nice hot water bottle cozy for annemarie seienstyle and her little puppies. started last night and it's so yummy! i know alot of my friends arent big fans of the debbie bliss but i do love her yarns!

birthday suit

tonight at knitclub was so lovely - not been to an iknit evenin in ages and it was so lovely to catch up with everyone and make new friends again, but also to teach my friend jo the birthday girl! she is an amazingly quick learner and her crochettension was perfecto...such a pleasure to watch her churning out stitches. i've created another happyhooker! and i've convinced all the girls to bring our crochet out to the charlotte street hotel tomoro night...posh cocktails stitch and birthday bitch.

and wishing i was still there!
bought some yarn, had some food, hung round with friends.
it all was over way too soon.

...and it seems my flu is back.

well, i accomplished it!
i managed to get my bestest knitroast friend a yummy frozen margarita and a chimichanga too!!

spent the afternoon with my daughter and her in cafe pacifico, then onto the dial bar and then over to first out. wow - my life does go in cycles and i love how i'm getting back in touch with that part of my community - i've spent 2 years with my head down and dealing with so much other shit that i've forgotten my girlie roots. so am now off to surf and find a nice platonic holiday to sitges for us!

as well as make myself a new cloche hat.

just back from the big london new year stitch and bitch at the south bank (and eating some chili noodles to warm up).

it was my first time and i made a special effort as it was their big new year welcome night and i had a good night...

...but i can definitely see how other knitclubbers could find it a bit cliquey...

i know it was really really really really busy, taking up about a quarter of the royal festival hall foyer, so i didn't really expect a personal warm welcome. yet when one of the organiser girlies came over to our table to say hello to a fello knitter who had attended previously, i said hi and that it was my first time and how amazingly busy it was. organiser girlie pretty much blanked me.

weird - especially as it was an advertised newbie night.
(not surprised tho after what i'd heard from others)

but hey ho.
i made a few new friends that are lovely and i hope to cross paths with again another time.

maybe even there again - tonight coulda just been an anomaly as it was sooo busy?

all the other stitch and bitches i've been to have been so great so will definitely give london another chance!

back in london...

and just barely sorted so have missed knitclub...boo!
tomoro i have to show up bright at early at our shiny new bright lovely office building which is soooo exciting as i'll be down clerkenwell so just a busride to both iknit at waterloo and the prague bar stitchy bitchy.

wednesday is my new thursday...

so just a quickie as i'm feeling tired and achey from spending too much time sitting in meetings today...lovely client though so it could be worse, but as it's made me so behind on work i knda threw in the towel around 5pm and ran off to the pub with the head of one of my production companies. hence why i didn't make it to knitblubclub this evening...i was just too tired and came home and flaked out and did some yoga, trying to stretch out my weary body.

will try to make thursday night next week though,
although i'm loving all my new amaxing wednesday night @ iknit friends!
it's too hard to choose nights and will be even harder to fit 2 a week in...
o dear. i love my job but i love my crafty friends too.
and i'm thinking more and more of re-nstating the bloomsbury skyline club monthly stitch and bitch ( i.e. at my house, lol!) just because i have sooo many friends that want to do it that they'd not all fit in iknit!!

well, better go check my ravelry and then off to sleepies.
just finished off the skully square i started last night at knitclub.
it's sooo wonky!!! my counting was all off from talking all night, but i decided to leave it the way it is and whenever i look at that square of the afghan it will remind me of that night at iknit.

i made it to wednesday knit night. went all by myself, which is something i wouldn't normally do - i hate to even go for coffee by myself, but i did it! and i made loads of new friends - some on ravelry, some from the neighbourhood, and some from work club of all places! (work club is the digital agency that poached my boss about 6months back, lol...they were doing a photoshoot)


...and most of my new friends are crocheters!
yes we were takin' over this evening! it was really fun.
hope i can make it down on wednesdays again to meet up with them all more.

now back to makin' myself some cuddly wuddly doo-dah scarves.
this having short hair in winter thing demands it!

...the first rule of knitclub is you HAVE to talk about knitclub!

yes i finally made it down to iknit's thursday night to catch up with an old friend, make lots of new ones, and ensure my knit date finally learned how.

it was a really great, relaxing night and i am really looking forward to heading back there again!

spent the time making another skull and crossbone crocheted square for the afghan that i want to finish before the fiance moves in...we were going to use this weekend to go look at flooring and furniture/storage for the spare bedroom, but the weather forecast is looking good here in london so instead the days will probably be spent in one of the royal parks.

indoor pursuits can wait til winter...*wink*
