more us/them nonsense

wow - the hooker vs knitters thing seems to be hotting up.
i'm still going along to the hunterian tonight, even though crochet still seems to be the red-headed stepchild of crafting in london. but we know that that the gingers really rule, there's nothing like the glow of orange pubes and freckles on the chest to get the juices flowing!

and the more the london stitch girls proclaim themselves a 'knitting community', the more i really want to do more to organise the hookers in london - our numbers are swelling, and thanks to the make lounge, new enthusiasts are made monthly. big props to them and their attitude...

because lately mine isn't that great lately - what is it with me that i even care bout this?
maybe i should get the Crochet Liberation Front logo tattooed on me...

hunters gatherers

so tomoro night is the museums at night night around europe, and even though i really really wanted to go to the sir john soames candlelight tour, i realised they do it every month - so will put that off for another time and go along to some organised night at the hunterian instead that i'm now referring to as 'stitched up' because that is how they have it...

...and i'm really surprised as the site is crochet-inclusive and says to bring your hooks - yet when the 'stitchettes' had a shout out for teachers i was told that they only needed knitters. the night sounds good and my mister will probably tag along for the overall exhibit. it sounds great with a chance to 'learn the secrets of the operating theatre as surgeons lend you a helping hand with some basic surgical skills.'

fine. i'll go along, and i'll smile, and i'll hold my hook high, but really it is just another time that crochet is just too fucking good for the rest of them and they are lucky if hookers even bother to show up....which made me think...if i was to organise my ultimate hooker night in london, where would it be?

i think at the enchanted palace at kensington palace before it is all done up.

where would you choose???

just barely home...

at least its in time for 24 - even though i'm sky plussing it anyway as thought i'd make it to cafe stitch tonight...but no.

so must must must must must make it to hoxton knitters tomoro night. although i reckon i'm now just making superfluous skully squares.

i REALLY have to find another pub project asap.

if its tuesday it must be prague...

headed down to hoxton knitters again tonight and i'm still feeling it is my fvourite stitch and bitch so far! i really like prague bar - good beer, nice people and excellent tunes - and the louder the music gets the more crochet i seem to get through!

last thursday's iknit was just as nice too...but sooo packed out that rafrasilecs and i decided to head across the street to the pub for a couple and hoped for it to thin out...i had a lovely cocktail made of gran marnier, lime, and red chili! do have to say i was more than a bit tipsy just from the one by the time i got back to iknit. luckily it was no longer standing room only and i got to catch up with the lovely yvonne stash.

won't be making it this thursday though as i've got a wedding party to attend...and i've finished a lovely crocheted dalek as a present. my friends are going to love it!

now back to the tv coverage of today's obama inauguration.

hmmm...

just back from the big london new year stitch and bitch at the south bank (and eating some chili noodles to warm up).

it was my first time and i made a special effort as it was their big new year welcome night and i had a good night...

...but i can definitely see how other knitclubbers could find it a bit cliquey...

i know it was really really really really busy, taking up about a quarter of the royal festival hall foyer, so i didn't really expect a personal warm welcome. yet when one of the organiser girlies came over to our table to say hello to a fello knitter who had attended previously, i said hi and that it was my first time and how amazingly busy it was. organiser girlie pretty much blanked me.

weird - especially as it was an advertised newbie night.
(not surprised tho after what i'd heard from others)

but hey ho.
i made a few new friends that are lovely and i hope to cross paths with again another time.

maybe even there again - tonight coulda just been an anomaly as it was sooo busy?

all the other stitch and bitches i've been to have been so great so will definitely give london another chance!
